Printing With Petals

2022 was an incredible year of making and learning for me. I plunged head first into lots of experiments and new dye techniques. But there is just one technique that stands out as the most noteworthy.

The style is a marigold petal print. The technique of botanical or eco printing was developed some time ago and has been mastered and taught by many, so I do not pretend to be the inventor of this idea. The way that I create my end products has evolved into my own style through trial and error and this is what I love about it! Depending on the overdye color and which steps are done first, many results are possible.

I also have found that every batch of marigolds is different and produces a slightly varied pattern. Below you'll see some variations I've created.
