Encountering Colorado

Public art piece commissioned by Colorado State University. This hangs in the Lory Student Center. I developed this weaving based on the Colorado landscape and used silk thread, brazil wood dye and discontinuous weft to create an unwoven pattern. I wanted this piece to feel like a screen and have transparency so that it didn’t feel like it was blocking areas from view completely.
